SCUM

SCUM is an incredible survival game with beautiful graphics and some insane details that can add to your survival experience. The map is giant, as well. I personally haven't played too many survival games because of the time they take, but I can see myself sinking hours into this one. You can swap between first person and third person and there are multiple servers to choose from. Zombies, mechs, and players are some enemies you'll encounter but the biggest enemy is the environment. There are loads of different ways to die but also loads of different ways to live. Highly recommended, especially if you're looking for a hardcore survival sandbox game to sink hours into.

A simple free game that can be somewhat enjoyable in your free time. It's got building and a completely destructible environment. Most importantly, it's free. I don't play it much, but anytime I have, it felt like a pretty good game with some heavy recoil and non-stop action.

Six Days in Fallujah

This is one of the most intriguing projects I've got my eye on right now. This was a game originally cancelled back in 2009 because some goobers decided it was too politically charged, but has made it's return. The game announced it's return back in 2021 and was expected to release in 2022, but now has an early access release date!

"Victura and Highwire Games today announced Six Days in Fallujah, a first-person tactical military shooter based on true stories from the Second Battle for Fallujah in 2004, coming to PC and consoles. Originally announced by Atomic Games in 2009, Six Days in Fallujah returns with a new publisher, new developer and an all-new game from many of the core leadership team who created the original Halo and Destiny games.
“Sometimes the only way to understand what’s true is to experience reality for yourself,” says former Marine Sergeant Eddie Garcia, who was wounded during the Battle for Fallujah and proposed the original idea for Six Days in Fallujah in 2005. “War is filled with uncertainty and tough choices that can’t be understood by watching someone on a TV or movie screen make these choices for you. Character Movement and Weapon Changes:
Weapon Handling similar to version 9 Squad (more controllable)
Lowering timer for weapons has been increased to 120 seconds from 30 sec or .5 sec with Mg/Ar (in order to have guns pointing where they are shooting)
Suppression has been disabled to prevent the spazzing out of the current system (I would like the visual aspect without the massive uncontrollable sway but haven't managed to figure it out yet)
Vaulting has been restricted to low obstacles to prevent parkour and encourage using doorways
Vault cancellation (vaulting over a small obstacle shouldn't make you lose control of your character and weapon)
Sprinting is not possible when out of Stamina
Jumping timer has been re implemented from V9 to prevent bunny hopping
Strategic Gameplay Changes:
Removed the 60sec Rally wave timer and changed it to a flat 90sec timer (prevents giving up immediately to catch the wave and the annoying question "what's the timer?")
HAB models have been changed to caches (makes spawnpoints less glaringly obvious while having less protection)
Soldiers spawn with a full loadout (not sure yet if I'll keep this or revert to vanilla, so let me know what you think)

Stalcraft

Essentially, it's STALKER except a lot less complicated but a bit of a twist - a PvPvE experience WITH FRIENDS. Even better, it's FREE. It's fairly easy to run and what's interesting is it started as a Minecraft mod and over the past 7 years has been shaped into something different. From their website: "Originally, STALCRAFT was only conceived as a Minecraft fan modification that brings the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. into multiplayer mode. Over the past seven years, the project has changed significantly, and is now based on its own game engine. We position the game as an independent product inspired by the developments of GSC Game World, but not copying them." Really a cool way to progress through a story with friends and shoot other online players while you're at it.

Star Wars: Sagas Mod

This mod has been in production for a while, but it was a lot of fun hopping in with my buddies. At the time of writing this, there is no PvP but the bots are difficult enough, honestly. I love the vibe that this mod brought - while it's still fairly barebones (and you can tell by some of the textures/environments), it truly does hit a nostalgia string from the old Battlefront experiences. AND - it's free, if you've already got Sandstorm downloaded. That's always fun! Try it out on some of their official servers.
There's another version of this mod located HERE that has a few more features - it's mostly for testing. We didn't get into this server, which is why we can't use the ADS feature.
Also, the mod is about 2 gigs, so leave some time for it to download.

The Finals

So this game really surprised me.
Normally, I'm a military, slow paced, first person shooter kinda guy. However, THIS GAME was LOADS of fun. Maybe it's because it's something entirely new and fresh in the FPS world, but it's LOADS of fun. You've got nearly unlimited destruction and the environment can be your greatest asset or your greatest downfall. It's currently in a closed testing period, but it's expected to release soon (no official date given, yet). My biggest gripe is the TTK is SOOO SLOW but that also allows getaways and re-assessing your situation to promote destruction and complete the objective. The games I've played were a 3v3v3v3 style of game mode with objectives needing completed across the map. Very unique but exactly what the gaming world needs - something innovative. Transience is currently in development by a YouTuber known as BigFry. If you've seen his stuff, you'll know he can occasionally have harsh and honest opinions toward developers - especially ones that utilize scummy practices or push out minimal content for a quick buck.
This prompted him to make a game. So now - you can try it out here. It's a single-player story-driven game that's going to be utilizing a comic-book style of graphics and story-telling. It looks fantastic and right now the FREE demo shows there's a great foundation.

We don't know a lot about this project yet, other than it's a single-player story-driven body-cam style of shooter. We've seen only one video so far, but this game looks absolutely terrific in regards to the environment. This is being developed by a studio called DRAMA and it will be the first game they've created and released on Steam. The game was just announced on 4/19/2023, but I'm looking forward to seeing some of the cool mechanics the game has to offer. In the original demo, the player kicks a door open, has a malfunction of his pistol, sees a drone flying, and the enemies have their faces blurred. There also appears to be dialogue with choices available along the way.

A couple previous developers from the game Dead Matter decided to throw their hat into the zombie survival ring and create their own game. Right now, there's not a lot we know about it, other than it's going to be a multiplayer first person survival game where you can loot almost everything for something you need to survive. The demo is barebones now but wow - it could be something special. Keep your eye on this one and expect this page to be updated.

So I don't know a lot about this project. It was once on Steam and now it's not. It's about 30 dollars on their website with their own launcher. Its pvpve and you can squad up with your buddies. There are 4 different maps, a bunch of quests, loot, extractions - it's essentially a simpler version of Escape from Tarkov. Graphically, the intention is to keep it simple so you don't need a beefy pc to run.
It's made by a company called Siba games - based in Italy. And I can't find any other game they've created.
